Ok did the usual search and found some info in another post but not quite the same question so if anyone can point me to a post that covers this or post here for my reference.

I have an 86.5 NA/5spd that has a solid bottom end. I also have an 89 Turbo/auto with a rod knock. Im considering two courses of action and need a little advice. Swap all the turbo parts to the NA bottom end? or just rebuild the 89 and swap the whole thing? Just so you know I wont be looking to boost much if any beyond stock.

as I understand it I need to modify the GE to accept another KS. What is involved in this process and would the block need to be stripped to do it anyways? I also read, but didnt understand something about oil return? If I swap the turbo over I was thinking about taking the head from the GTE and doing the HG anyways. Would it just be easier and cheaper in the end to rebuild the GTE and swap it?

Im a good mechanic, but relatively new to the 7M so Im trying to find my way right now. I have limited financial resouces at this point, and limited work space with minimal tools as Im going through a divorce and staying with family atm. Also the majority of my tools are in storage in another state. I would be working with basic hand tools and would have to rent or buy what I need beyond that.

Last set of questions: is there anyting I should be aware of electrically beyond the ECU, and engine harness? and will an A/T ECU graft into a 5spd setup ok?

I appreciate any help I can get within this post, but if you know of other places I can find info, links to that would great as well.
