7mgte to 2jz, what parts and mods to keep?

Hi Guys,

My Supra is coming off the road next month and will be parked until next summer in my garage. I have a good running 7MGTE but I have decided to take the plunge and go 2JZGTE. Aside from my tranny, are there any other essential parts I should be keeping from my 7M longblock?

Also, one mod I really like on my current setup is the 3" HKS Dragger exhaust. Does anyone know if this can be used in conjunction with a 2JZ or am I better off just selling it?

Thanks,

Wish me luck.

why go 2j? if the 7m is good why change? your exhaust will work but meeting it at the jz downpipe might be a issue. id keep the exhaust. they sound real good.

The 7M is good but the mileage is getting up there, it's due for some work and I really like all of the 2jz cars I have driven before. I also have access to a nice 97 2j from a Supra that's within driving distance. If I can keep the exhaust I will as it's a very nice piece.

hmm, I hear ya.

you could keep the 7m harness and such and wire it to run off 7m electronics.

I would also go single from the start to avoid pounding the firewall if needed. it won't hurt nothing but still, who wants to pound on the firewall. theres a sticky on whats basically needed to swap over.

Yep, your right about the harness. I've been reading over a few of the 2J swap threads but just wanted to make sure I didn't throw anything out that I need. I have also been thinking of going single as there are so many nice options available and pounding the firewall doesn't sound like fun.

Thanks
