Would you consider these engines noisier in the valvetrain area than a modern hydraulic lashed engine? The rest of the engine is so quiet the valvetrain realy stands out. Not that it's abnormally loud, I guess the advances in hydraulic lash and NVH design really show on these older, cam over valve engines?

Regards, Andrew.

Yeah the valve train is pretty quite, but the stock injectors are loud as hell. I can hear them inside the cabin (barely).

Have you checked the valve lash?

Remember, these are basically solid lifter setups - they require periodic lash check and adjustment, and will never be as quiet as a hydraulic setup.

Factory ones are noisy. Changing them to an aftermarket injector might be quieter. I nice my 550s don't seem to make any noise.

sorry to jack, would heat affect the ticking? injectors or valve train.

(cold car doesn't tick, once it is up to operation temp, it ticks)
