Does anyone know of something like this? something that will measure your 60 foot launch. Even 40 or 50. Doesnt matter. Or better yet, does someone know how to build a timing system for one? I think this could be an invaluable tool for testing different spring/shock combos and adjustable suspension components. And also for practice without have to pay 30$ wait in line for 2 hours and only race 3 times.

A cheap Gtech meter would do that. The problem that I found when using it is that on vehicles with lots of suspension travel at launch would cause some inaccurate 60 feet times (due to the fact that Gtech is using a "piezo crystal").

BTW IMO to setup the MK3 suspension for good launch ,you could play all day long with with Springs and Shocks BUT if you do not adjust the static camber you are not going anywhere... and to do that on the road you need adjustable rear upper control arms.

An even cheaper way is to do the calculations on the suspension.
What you need to pay for: pen, paper and something to messure with.
Might want to buy a book about it also.

That actually sounds like a good idea, but would require you to get all the adjustable parts first! I believe only the camber can be changed? I dunno havent looked in a while. Im sure it has a lot of manipulation being4 or 5 links holding it together, thats a lot of adjustment. I wish i had access to the alignment machine at a class my friend teaches :( they dont leave him with the keys. But i would definatley like to get a mk3(when i get one again, will be #3) hooking up at least as good as my firebird can. That way i can leave the F cars behind once and for all. Also on my 3rd F car now that i mention it

On MK3 you can't change only the camber ,unless you are using adjustable UPCs.

The first time I set my car on the Hunter it took me 2 hours to get it aligned ,the second and third were not much better. Eventually I got so sick of the suspension setup in the back that the last time I simply doped it off at reputable Alignment shop with a sheet of requirements:)
