i believe it is a good modification. it is cheap, opens up the restriction and makes it look nice and still retains the overall stock look. i actually have the HKS pipe and i love it. i could see either being beneficial so long as the welds are clean.

funny thing i plan to do this as well cause it will pare more stock looking and is about 10 mins of work

Ive made a few of these before. Goes perfect with 2.5 in hard pipes.

Well if you aren't doing it yourself, I don't see why Not. Its not easy to Weld Aluminum, I personally would rather upgrade it, rather than screw with it, But I wont hate.
