I have a stock 1JZ. Driftmotion did this swap last year and I am very happy with their work!!

I am looking to go to a single -- Considering DM 57 trim kit or a GT-35R. I am also looking at some 264 or 272 cams. I don't want an engine that "lopes" at idle. I'd like strong power off the line, and a nice long smooth power band.

1. What are you running?

2. How does it feel from a start?

3. When are you getting boost?

4. Dyno numbers if available?

5. Any SHORT kill experiences? Please no books here.

6. What would you do differently and why?

Thanks in advance.

1. What are you running?Crower 272 small core cams from Zazzn

2. How does it feel from a start?a little sluggish, but well worth it up top

3. When are you getting boost? It hits really hard at 3600rpm and keeps climbing until I let off

4. Dyno numbers if available?543rwhp @ 24psi, 455rwhp @ 17psi.

5. Any SHORT kill experiences? Please no books here.25-30 mustang gt's, 1 GTO, 5 C5 vettes, countless Cobalt ss's and SRT4's

6. What would you do differently and why? I'm really liking the way the 2jz bottom end feels out of the hole

Thanks in advance.

1) Built 2jz/ Greddy T78-33D / 272 HK$
2) slow but not bad
3)low to mid 3ish full boost in 3rd is at 3800, my shift point is 9k
4)just some street tunes... might have a chance if i can find a tranny to hold up long enough
5)vets, vipers, turbo honda's, few mkiv's, supercharged G35, cbr600's/1000,R6/ R1
6)bigger turbo

when out of boost its like driving a normal car but once boost come's in its a whole new monster.

I am wishing I could answer this question, but the single is still in pieces, uninstalled.
My setup should be good for ~400whp on pump gas, 18psi, full spool at 3.4-3.6krpm. Stock motor + head, Holset HX35 w/ 12cm^2 housing, ATP internal wastegate actuator, 3" turbo back catless, 440cc injectors, walbro, XS power manifold and stock IC. Off the line should be fun with 4.30 gears and this quick spooling turbo.

OK
sorry i'm not trying to jack your thread but i had a question i've always wondered... if you have a laggy turbo and then bought 264s or 272s will it make the turbo lagger or spool faster? i've been told by people that it does both and i got confused on why and how that would happen. i always thought the cams made the turbo spool faster?

i have a pt70 with a .81 a/r exhaust housing but no cams yet.... hopefully soon and the turbo doesn't fully hit until like 5300 or 5400 rpms with 18 psi...(really laggy i wanna fix that hopefully with 272 cams)

1. What are you running? 62-1, 2jz cams

2. How does it feel from a start? Before boost, a 2.5L motor, After boost, a raped ape
3. When are you getting boost? full boost (17PSI) at 3200rpm
4. Dyno numbers if available? 527whp

5. Any SHORT kill experiences? Please no books here. None to speak of, most people around here are afraid of my car
6. What would you do differently and why? I'm going 1.5j for additional torque in off boost driving
You're welcome.

I heard you could stagger the cams to adjust your spool time and power band im not their yet but would be interested if staggering the cams does help.

I heard you loose compression when the valves overlap so you kind of loose boost but at top end your car doesnt peter off and runs like a bat out of hell.

I have heard the of the staggering cams on an N/A supposedly adds torque. I belive the setup was a bigger exahust cam.

On the converse I know the Honda B16 runs a bigger intake cam stock.

Have you raced a Z06 vette? I think you'll have it....:biglaugh:
And what about 500-550 bhp 4wheelers like Evos or Subarus?
I am asking cause my power goal is about 600 whp....and you are
close to that number :sarcasm:,...ofcaurse when I'll go single :biglaugh:
For the moment I run stock twins on my 2jzgte at bpu++ mode :biglaugh:
