So I'm new to the world of 1jz. I'm in the process of doing the swap right now and I want to go single turbo from the start. I'm looking to make around 450-500hp and I want a setup that will spool pretty quickly since I'm planning on trying time attck next year but I also want to have ok top-end power. Can you guys give me some good options? gt3071? gt35r? gt4088? Also what manifolds flow better? I dont see too many options for the 1jz?

Driftmotion sells a pre-modded ebay manifold that fits and is durable, and is affordable. It's got a T4 flange.

As for turbo size... check out this calculator.

It's the best I've found anywhere so far, it has a ton of compressor maps and is easy to use. It seems to be accurate, it matched up with my own math.

According to that, a GT3076R is perfect for a 500hp 1JZ. If you go too big on the turbo you'll just have more lag (or run into surge problems if you stick a huge compressor on with an undersized turbine to spool it faster). A GT4088 is way too big for a 400-500hp car.
