no thats bs the 1jz not having any torque look for your self
http://www.rsworld.com/~nicksb/ if it could move a big ass 4x4 4runner with swamptires on it then yes it haves plenty of torque

the 4.3 is best for stop go traffic picky shakey aftermarket clutch drag strip and tops out around ~165mph better city gas millage worse freeway milage

the 4.1 is what it came with and a crappy jdm diff

the 3.9 is best for both freeway driving and drag best of both worlds! tops out about 10% higher then the 4.3 so around ~180mph

the 3.7 is quite tall for our heavy cars and sucks for drag racing and you will get worse gas millage in the city but way better on the freeway ~tops out at ~190ish but takes a lot of hp to overcome that and hit it.
if you use an after market race clutch tends to be hard to drive car shakes a lot

The best one my opinion is the middle one the 3.9

3.73 is not an optimal diff for the 1j.i have the 4.10 and it keep's the power in the sweet spot.

Why do you think so? Not that I think your statement is incorrect, just wondering.

I've had a 3.9, 3.7, and drivin a car using the 4.1. Out of all of them the 3.7 is my favorite.

I only made 470 Tq with my 1jz (500 whp) :evildeal: ......... I know its pretty lame, but revving to 8000 rpm vs. 6500 with the 7M is priceless:evil2:

BTW I used the 3.91 diff and I will now be trying the 4.10 gears in my clutch type lsd this year.

I've only ahd a 3.73 behind my 1j.. with some power, its awesome, a bpu or lower power car 3.9 or 4.30... a 430 on stock twins would be fun!

joe the motor just felt right at home with a nicer powerband.the gear change i'm sure is more noticable for me though, because i was still rocking the auto.the 3.73 was allright with the stock 16" wheel's,but then i went to 17" with a slightly taller tire.first drive with the 17" my car felt slower and a little laggeir.even with the 4.10 my car pull's up to 150mph easy.i don't do alot of highway driving either,so for me it was perfect.
now i'm trying to get a 2jz swap done and might end up changing to the 3.73.even though the torsen is smooth as glass driving wise,i'm afraid the 2j will break it easy.

wow didnt mean to start a riot lol... idk where i heard it at all, some impressive #'s being put down, but i was still looking for stock #'s and of cource i will not be using stock twins, dont feel like banging the fire wall at all

as far as gears go, the car will NOT be a daily driver im doing a complete redo on the car, will take it to local meets & shows and the drag strip, 1/4 and 1/8 miles. with mated to a 5speed i think i will go 4:30's i know gas milage will suffer on interstate and that is no biggie for me

any thoughts?

There is no firewall banging for a 1J swap. Sounds like you might need to do a bit more reading.

You're thinking of a 2JZ swap. 1JZ drops right in.

Ric: That's not the dyno you posted a few days ago...... :3d_frown:

I run a 4.1 rear end on my 1JZ, and like it quite a lot. I wish it was a little bit taller though.
