I have recentley swaped a 1jz into my 89 from a 7mge. My tach dosent work and I seen the driftmotion sells a MSD tach adapter. I was wondering if there was a way I could get the tach to work without the tach adapter?

Subject mentioned many times. I know because I did the same kind of swap (replaced N/A engine with turbo) and I saw many answer looking for a way to put my tacho back online. I even imported whole jza70 dash cluster from Japan 
N/A tacho reads different kind of signal, that's why it doesn't understand what 1JZ says. Just get tacho from 7m-gte version. Put apart your dash and swap tacho clock. It's p&p.

I had the same issue with my swap. No need to buy anything at all. All you have to do is cut a resitor out from the back of the tach and solder in a wire in its place. Works absolutely perfectly. Do a little digging on goole and what not, if i can find the info you can also.
