I'm just starting my 1JZ swap, and i remember reading something about cutting a hole in the firewall instead of extend the harness.
I was just wondering if you can actually do so, and if so does anyone have pictures of were you would cut in the firewall to put the harness?
thx

Yes you can. I did.

Its to the right side of the car of the throttle cable, dont have a pic right now at work. IF you search tho should be able to find one.

Here is the hole I cut. I used it for my 7M harness and now I have a 2JZGTE and I am still using the same hole. Had to remove the plastic covering on the 2JZ engine harness so that I could pull the wires inside the car a bit further.

We stuffed mine in through the hole that the speedometer cable runs through IIRC. We'll not do that again though, was kinda a pain in the ass. Will be done better on the widebody.

Also, even if you do this you will still need to extend the harness, correct? Been years since I've looked into the swaps much.

My hole is up and to the right a little more.

You don't have to extend the main harness if you cut the hole. The body plugs need to be extended a little past the Ecu plugs tho.
