1JZ intake recommendations?

I currently have an HKS intake thats been on there since I got the car, and the filter is looking really worn out and dirty. Also, there is a crack in the rubber pipe where it attaches to the turbo inlet "T", so I figure I should just start with a new setup.

Here's my current intake:

Does anyone have a recommendation for a new intake + filter setup? I know 935 has a hardpipe intake, but I'm not ready to spend $200 on that beast...

I looked on ebay, but didn't see any hardpipes, just filters.

Any ideas?

I don't think you can get it for $200.00, but I would get an Apexi air filter instead of an HKS if I were you. The HKS filters aren't very good. Good luck.

Yea I hear bad things about the HKS filters, thats one of the reasons I want a new one.

Does anyone know if I need to get the JZA70 1JZ kit, p/n 507-T003? Or does the 2JZGTE kit work too, p/n 507-T004??

I can only find the 1J kit in a handful of places where the 2J kit is more plentiful.

Also, any ideas on replacement intake piping? It looks like the apexi kit only comes with the filter, a short pipe, gasket, etc.

Apex makes the best filter hands down.. there is a jza70 specific one but is identical in design to the HKS one that has the like 10" pipe coming from the factory rubber twin bend coupler. custom is the way to go and then use the filter.

If you want an OE replacement.. otherwise do a little custom fab and use the universal with the 80mm adapter plate.

I bought the 00-02 honda civic APC cheap intake $20.
Painted it black ran it through the factory air box into the fender through the intake opening behind the light and put a K&N on it.
You shorten it and you can connect it inside of the JZA70 airbox. If you do not cut it you can just connect it to the intake hose directly and get rid of the JZA70 airbox not advisable if you get pulled over often like myself:naughty:
The filter or opening of the intake is behind the passenger headlight out of the engine bay for cooler air and its visualy hidden.
When using the civic intake you also have to plug off the 1 extra port on it no big deal.

The best part about this intake is cops in CA suck, not once did they pop me for modified anything by doing this.

I heard people hate the HKS intake filters they call them the soggy mushroom.
