1jz swap in my 87 hardtop is still breakin up under boost this time instead of breakin up at 2500 it breaks up at 4500-5000 since i gaped the plugs to .025, i have a stock NA fuel pump, will i have to upgrade my fuel pump to a 255? my mods are 3 inch exhuast, FMIC, hard pipes, intake, boosting at 12psi.... im pretty sure one of the reasons the car is breaking up under boost is because the lack of fuel its getting into the motor, also i think i have to gap my plugs down a lil more to .022, let me knw wut u guys think i should do?

upgrade the pump most definitely

and you shouldnt need to gap your plugs that tight, im running .028" gap on 6097's without any problems

Just get a walbro 255. They arent expensive, and are a direct bolt in. Driftmotion has them for just over $100.

If I didn't have the time to install or purchase an aftermarket pump, i.e. a walbro, what would a GE pump support?

I'm putting the 1jz into my 87 n/a and I won't be able to put an aftermarket pump due to certain circumstances. I just want to get it running, work out the kinks, and park it for the summer.

I think the GE pump will work for 370cc injectors as I'll be mostly stock. Now big power upgrades, 3" exhaust (incl. y-pipe and back), 2.5" hardpipes and aluminum FMIC, nothing else I can think of to do with the engine.

However, I may dyno it and/or take it to the track for a pass or two before I lock her up. I want to have a LITTLE fun before I store her. The dyno will be to get a baseline for future mods.

Basically, my question is would I run into any problems using this pump for a few days, with the possibility or being driven hard for an hour or two maybe.

I don't have a definite answer of the ge's pump capabilities. I'm still assuming because of the similar injector size, I've searched it and haven't found something to make me not wonder. Also don't know if the sc300 pumps are the same physically and/or capacity-wise.

I'm wondering if my pump will hold up under boost, stock engine. I wouldn't be able to put in a walbro for a few weeks so I need to know. Thanks.

i daily drive my 1j with a ge pump. no noticable fuel problems for a year!! i also have a mines ecu idk if that has anything to do with it. It does seem to run a lil rich(gassy exhaust). boost reaches 13-14psi no problem. i have no afpr or boost control with basic mods..exh int hard pipes
