i just bought this supra and i tried removing the factory alarm.
i removed the anti theft black box.
grounded the blue and orange wire going to the connector thats connected to the black box

i also did the 30 amp relay mod
(connected power from bat to relay. neg to ground. ignition to relay. relay to starter)

the car cranks and cranks perfect . then starts after about a minute of attempted starts

and after it starts i must rev to about 2000rmp to warm it up. if not it stalls
after warm it drives perfetly

i drove it today after this process
when i got home
i tried starting it again and now it just cranks with no start.

has anyone has this problem too?
im going to post a video how the continuous cranking then starting

thanks

Why did you remove the noise maker? Just wondering.

Your car had a starter relay already.

So pull codes. You can also ground the cold start injector time switch and see if it starts faster. And unplug the ECT sensor and see if it starts and runs better. Check both of those seperate and together.

I think you probably have two issues. Has the car always done this or just since you did your mods?

At the beginning of your vid, it almost sounded like the notorious CPS wire problem. I'd give it the 'CPS Wire Shake' and see if that helps.

BTW: Fan Shrouds are your friend! :)

There are wires that run across the valve covers right behind the Cam Gear Plate. It's toward the front of the engine. Basically, wiggle any wire that you see. Don't jerk on them like you're trying to start a lawn mower though! :D

The CPS is on the passenger side of the engine toward the front. It is mounted on the side of the head kind of behind the thermostat housing. It has a black plastic top on it.

Hope that helps.

This sounds like a scary setup by the way... I'm glad it's in your hands now so you can do things right and treat a Supra the way it ought to be treated! :)

The coil pack ground wire is on the passenger side, front of the coil pack bracket and goes almost directly down and bolts to the head. If you have a volt meter, check the continuity of the wire.

Something else I noticed (you may have already fixed this) is that when you turn on your key, your RPM needle doesn't stay at zero. Does it still do this?

You won't have spark without a pick up signal. Or fuel.

did the. 30 amp relay mod and i can finally start my car with the key.

That is fine, but adding a relay didn't help start the car. I was just curious. Good to hear it cranks over now.

and no i didnt remove the nose marker cuz i couldnt find it. at all.

I don't know what you are talking about, so don't worry about it.

You won't have spark or injection without a signal indicating engine position and speed.

Check again and see if the code came back.
