I am about to purchase a 87 7MGTE w/ harness, ECU and every nick knacks that goes with it .... I was curious if there will be any problem with wiring it up in my 90 N/A if i am getting all the electronics with the motor.... i know the tach wont work.. but what are some other headaches that i might run into and also what are the fixes for them.. your help is very much appreciated thank you

the body plugs on the harness are different than those on the car. your supposed to match ecu and harness with the year of the car.

hvyman after i wired my 90. i have run into a problem of no power to the ecu. i think that the cause might be the factory alarm. also i got a tail lamp filure light and the ebrake is also on. i got power to my ecu by taking the power line from the c1 connector and ran it to the battery via a fused link. car starts and runs. just thought of the stock alarm causing problems.

yeah i used supra nl and this one.http://92tealsupra.webs.com/88turbomtwiring.htm

im doing a 90 harness into a 87 chassis.

where is that c1 connector at? i dont remember seeing it.

edit: i see its for the igniter.

i just looked on my 89 harness and it is the same as on this
http://www.supras.nl/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=34&Itemid=50

on my brand new 88t harness it goes
(looking at the plug with the tab up)
1 white 2 black-orange 3 black yellow
4 n/c 5 white- black 6 black red.

what year ingniter are you using?

the c1 connector is at the end of the ecu harness near the battery. it is a 6 pin connector yellow in the 88- and grey in the 88+.

i have decided to swap out the body harnesses. i have been looking into this problem of no cel and have come up with. The ignation switches are compeletly different in the 87 compared to the 90.. my car runs and drives right now but i don't like how i had to run it. so i am just gonna turn my 90 shell into a complete 87 and hopefully be done with no idiot lights and tail lamp failure and a prblem with the ebrake.

if some can figure out how to satisify the ig switch let me know would rather not completely dissamble my car once again

i already have the 87 harness. I am trying to keep my build under 4000 and so far i have. also it is looking like most of the harness is the same. but i have found that the 87 tsrm has the coilpack order a little different. going to start taking pics of the 90 harnesses so that i can make physical comparisons of the actual connectors. i have a build thread that has all kinds of pics.

hvyman hows the revbuild going u start ur swap yet.

So according to these links I can just match up the different pin out and create my own jumper harness or cut the 87 female connector off the engine harness and tap in connectors off of a 90 harness thanks everyone for there input ... I feel better I wasn't the only one with the dilema SM has pulled threw ...lol

Not doubting yours skills or patients do you think you could have missed or crossed a wire some how ... you say the ignition switch is different between the two can you specify on that ... so the real hold back on your car is the the fact that the engine harness isnt sending the right signals ....and it wont start... damn i already purchased the motor ecu and harness from the fellow so i am stuck with it now....hmmm hope we can find a solution.....last question ...when u said satisfy the ignition what do you mean.... thanks again for every ones patiens and help i think this thread would be a good source to help further our cars lifespan and open doors to many swaps

in ign switch in the 87 is compresed of totaly different wire colored so i am guess they ae different also the wiper controls and the steering wheel are different since the 90 has an aurbag and the 87 doesn't
. going now to button the fendwer wells after swapping over the entire 87 harness.body and engine. just have to repin the ecu harness back to 87 specs. and hopefully turning the key in the beginning of next week
