on a 1988 n/a where is the fuel filter or filters located. want to replace them since they never been yet.and what would the best brand be.thanks.

Ive heard a lot of different thoughts on fuel fiters. Ive read a huge article saying that the filters they used in our cars were ones that never needed to bo replaced and were made to last a lifetime. Others have said theirs were clogged and made a huge difference. Ive heard that the fuel filter is under the intake manifold from lots of threads and i have also read that the fuel filter is above the differential in the rear of the car. It would be nice to have a clear answer. And if you buy another filter, get it from toyota.
it is in the rear near the tank as stated...i know this b/c i had an n/a and i currently have a turbo. the fuel filter on my n/a was changed shortly after i bought the car. when i worked for toyota they always recommended the fuel filter be changed once a yr or every so many miles. i think it was either 15 or 30k, but i can't remember for sure. changing your fuel filter can make for better gas mileage of course too. it can be a pita to change especially for someone who hasn't done it before. the part itself doesn't cost much.
It's above the diff., just in front of the tank, and it is a pita to change. Especially if it hasn't been done before...
To clarify a few things I have read in this thread. Supra FF is located in rear of car. Cresida FF is located under intake manifold. Not the first time I have heard this information crossed before.
Also, the recommended interval is inspection at 15K and replacement at 30K. Although the factory filter is very efficient and should never 100% clog as others do, I wouldnt suggest neglecting it. With metal tanks a small amolunt of surface rust will form and go to the filter. After time this will cause some greif for you and your car.
