yeah I've pretty much given up on my last head, but just for laughs, here's the rest of the pictures. You're gonna love this.

I think that's my only choice then, I will order a rebuilt head, check it out and compare cams...
Thanks, for the info jdub. Yes, I've already ordered one rebuilt head, that measured ~114mm and it was promptly returned. My last head scored up the cams and journals pretty bad, not just the babbit material, it's scored, bad.
pics here...
So I've got one person who thinks it matters and one who says its not a big deal. While I appreciate the comments, I have already seen what has been said here with the help of the search button.
The question I'm looking for an answer to is, is there a way to determine what's a gte head and...
I've been looking for a rebuilt gte head for some time now, and one SM member recommended http://www.cylinder-heads.com
This seems to be a competent company and the guy I talked to seemed knowledgeable. However, they sell gte and ge heads as the same thing, which they are, but I was under...
When buying from the site listed earlier, www.headsonly.com, like jdub said, I would be concerned about the head's history.
I recently bought a head from CHI, and after inspection, found that it measured 114.046mm. This means that 1.954mm were removed from the head. What's more, there was...
Yeah, the main thing I want to accomplish is just to clean out any metal shavings from milling the block. This should be more than adequate shouldn't it?
Yeah I've read about our freeze plugs through threads on this site. Lots of good info. I plan to use toyota plugs.
JJ can you elaborate on aqueous cleaning? Is it just plain water under high pressure?
I've talked to a guy here in my area that does mainly cylinder head work, I think this...
Freeze plugs I'm not so worried about, because like you said, they're cheap and not real hard to replace as long as the block is out of the car. I'm more worried about bearings and getting them installed. Also, hot tanking will take the paint off the block and I'd have to repaint it...
I've read quite a few times that you are supposed to replace freeze plugs and oil drive shaft bearings when you hot tank a block, because the chemicals will eat them away. When I asked my machinist about this, he'd never heard of this or had any problem with it. He did recommend, however, that...
The tip of the oil pump rides in what looks like a separate piece that is pressed in the block. Is it possible to replace this? Does anyone have any experience doing this?
Thanks
TW, lol that's a first. I like it.
What do you mean by 10/10 and 30/20? I've heard u can grind .01" off. Does this weaken the crank at all or affect life expectancy? Sorry, I'm a nub, so embarrassing... :1zhelp:
If a 7m crank gets scratched up, is it ok to have it polished or ground (if polishing doesn't clean it up)? Will the setup last?
Kruso seems to be of the opinion its new crank or nothing.
Can anybody tell me what the different casting codes for the 7mgte head are and what the difference between them is. Is there a writeup on this anywhere? I found one thread that compared a #2 casting and a #15, the #2 being the old casting and the #15 being the new. The main difference was...
