That's the great thing about gel style batteries, technically they can even be mounted upside down with no adverse effects. Mounting it on its side should be no issue with an Optima.

The vacuum line that runs between the T and the boost sensor/cruise control has a clip on it to secure it to the brake booster line. What size is the line you have? Same as the line for the charcoal canister?
