No, I think he means the electrodes on the plugs... My 02 4runner (5vze) also has the warning sticker from the factory... specifies twin tip only.
I've also wondered why Toyota calls for this, as I thought multiple plug tips were just a gimmick.
Sometimes the crank pulley/dampner spins and the tdc mark on it may not be tdc. Pull #1 plug and insert chopstick or whatever, as you turn the engine, you'll see (as the stick rises/stops) where tdc really is. good luck.
I've got no current pics, but there's a (very crappy) website listed in my profile. That's all from about a year ago when I got it running, lots of changes now, will try and get some current pics up soon. 4wd in the respect that the t-case is in, but I need to re-gear the front differential...
Yeah I already cut out the stock radiator support and made a new bolt on part around a custom radiator. The radiator is a 3" core, but with the e-fans/ shroud it was almost 8" thick, it literally came through the grille. I had to get the truck on the road at the time, and I mounted it in a...
It's a 1J in a 4Runner... Hadn't thought about the water neck being in the way, that could very well ruin my 5vz fan plan. :( The 3.75" for the combo you have is still a little too thick for me, unless I buy a thinner radiator or get rid of the AC, which I'd rather not do. 3.5 is the max I can...
Thanks alot man, I appreciate the effort on getting me the measurements!
Still hunting around, but I'm leaning toward the 02 4runner 5vz fan/clutch as it's only ~3" front of fan to clutch flange, just have to modify the mounting holes to fit JZ pulley.
I'm hoping it will move enough air...
Thanks for the info, I'm still trying to get a measurement on the SC clutch... both my local parts stores have no stock on them right now. Is the fan on the NA MK4 different from a SC?
When u get your setup, I'd love some measurements if you have the time...
Thanks for the input, but I'm...
Anyone tried these low profile clutch fans from Flex-a-lite?
http://www.flex-a-lite.com/auto/html/low-profile-belt.html
Looks a little wimpy, but the ad in Summit says they move more air than stock. Don't know what their comparing this to, of course...
Thank you very much... appreciate the effort.
Looks like it's about 4.25" -I only have a little over 3.5, so I guess 2jz-gte combo won't work.
I'm still very curious if there is a thinner combo that will bolt to this engine. Went to Toyota to look at the options, but they weren't too...
Are you saying that is what u have (...could measure)? Or that is the thinnest combo? I don't quite understand your response.
I'm looking for measurements on the thickness of it all... Any measurements you could provide would be very much appreciated.
Could someone kindly measure the overall thickness of the JZ fan/ clutch assembly? From the mounting surface to furthest point of the clutch AND fan, if different. Overall fan diameter would be helpful too.
Is it the same mounting pattern/ overall size as a 7M? Any difference between GE and...
NCO- and NCO+ are for the AT overdrive clutch sensor, SP2- and SP2+ are for the AT speed sensor. all of these can be disconnected if you are MT. SP1 is the speed signal from the cluster (the one that speed cut uses).
SP1, DI, and SP2+ are the 3 pink wires to the ecu. Don't cut DI, it feeds...
