You also have the option of DLC (diamond like coatings). I think nascar uses it on their piston pins. No idea what that would cost though......

Have you ever seen a hks twin 2j dyno sheet? They are pretty, but the dynos aint. What twins are you thinking of?

I had this problem, it turned out to be a vac. leak in the pcv pipes coming off the valve covers next to the 3000 pipe. Figured it went away under boost due to the check valve.

If you have the coin I'd highly, highly recomend getting the v8 (gs400). The lexus v8's are awesome engine. They get better gas milage than the 2j's and run forever and a day. That is, if you are not going turbo....

I had a vacuum leak that missed/stumbled on cruise . Especially as you replaced the intake, could be that.

How's the ignition working? Non of that 3k stumble?

I'm sure you have thought about it , but why not just use an exhaust cut out? Seems it would be a lot easier to just cap off your side pipe and then fab up the rest off your "quite" exhaust to run back . It'd be so easy to uncap your sidepipe too, you wouldn't even have to get dirty.

Rebuild the 7m , the peace of mind is worth the $$$ . Another used engine is still just another used engine .

^X2 .... same experience here too. I've driven a 2006 325 coupe extensively and on trips over an 1hr i'd honestly rather take my 90' supra with stock suspension. The bimmer does handle fantastic though . To each his own though , you gotta test them both .
