Re-torqued the head bolts Friday. I think they are original to the car. 2 were at less than 50 ftlbs, several more less than 58. They are all at 58ftlbs now...I didn't want to push the 24 yo stock bolts or hex bit beyond that. May have bought some extra time before having to replace the...
I adjusted the TPS to zero ohms, .40mm gauge=continuity, .75mm gauge= no continuity. then measured ohms 0mm VTA-E2 no reading, .4mm idl-e2 no reading, .75mm idl-e2 no reading, full throttle vta-e2 no reading at any point in throttle position.
lol they didn't mention "junk in, junk out" in computer class. I hope the "junk in" wasn't me shorting out the ECT. I am suspecting the TPS and will put a meter on it.
Yeah it functions as the TSRM says it should with the tranny control unplugged. TSRM says that means it's an electronic issue. I replaced the ECT ECU and have same kickdown and early shift problem, but only some of the time. The tranny acts like it likes the replacement ECU better. I will...
I am gonna go in and try re-torquing. If that doesn't do the trick, I will get the ARP bolts and replace the gasket, etc. If I had the parts, time and knowledge to hook up the entire head I would...the valves are kinda noisy at 235k+.
I get no codes when running tranny diagnostics since installing new solenoids. But, I saw in the TSRM that there are several things that can go wrong with the tranny and codes won't be thrown because the diagnostics system is not checking those things. I think I will throw another ECT at it to...
I dropped the fluid level down to halfway between the marks and the o/d works again. It shifts smoother too. Still has the kickdown problem tho. btw, I can manually downshift and it responds fine.
Bioskyline, The pan looked good. And I didn't flush the tranny. There may have been some slippage, but I guess not that bad if I am not sure... I would be interested in good a340, parts or whole.
Nick, I agree. DTC is a new acronym for me tho.
My automatic tranny has not been shifting into overdrive when warm and o/d indicator light off. O/D button does make o/d light go on and off. Also will not kickdown when I floor it. I replaced the 3 solenoids, filter and fluid recently with new aftermarket parts. Throttle cable is adjusted...
Thanks for the link to the HG sticky. The reason I asked is that I had already replaced the valve cover gasket and those in the way to that, plus the exhaust manifold gasket on another occasion. If I don't have to mess with the exhaust manifold, I don't want to now. I am not trying to win...
I'm looking at a head gasket replacement and would like to know what would be timely work to do while I am at the head gasket. Also, do I really need to remove so many parts as TSRM suggests to get to the head gasket? Inof from peeeps that have done the head gasket replacement is appreciated.
So, you figured out I am not a formally trained mechanic...well done. LOL
It is still R-12 and I can't vouch for what all was done to the car before I bought it. I know it went without refrigerant in it for at least 3 years though.
I ran the A/C for 10 mins or so, then the suction line was...
I've taken the glove box out before but didn't see where the suction line comes through. Is the suction line accessible by removing just the glove box or does the whole dash need to come out to get to the components in that area that I want to test?
