New source of Torsen T2 LSD's

Yes the GT86/FRS fits the Mk3 differential housing. Plus the great benefit is that the shorter LSD stub axles fit. With the original T1 torsen, the 10mm longer stub axles are required and are hard to get hold of.

Diff rebuild by "pro" not going well

I would suggest to run it as is, that way you have a good starting point of how quit this diff is. Then if the pinion bearing preload is still ok, i would just leave it alone. Then only change to the LSD diff carrier with correct shims to get back to 0.19mm backlash and have a healthy preload...

    Leak at hatchback

Also inspect the wiring grommets at the top of the window frame, one on each side.

Diff rebuild by "pro" not going well

Well, this is the reason why the manual states two different preloads. One for new and one for used. Are you using a crush sleeve at this point? I don't see the front outer race to be a major issue if there are no signs of spinning. Probably it sets itself under preload anyway. To set the...

Diff rebuild by "pro" not going well

Ok, i always attributed the noise to the diff, not the transmission. Anyway, nit picking on slight drive train noises. :) I will pay some attention again next time when i drive the car.

Mk3 Supra diff and subframe design vs Mk4

The mk4 is based on the SC/Soarer platform which was already available before the mk4 supra . So a generation newer and more luxurious.

Diff rebuild by "pro" not going well

With poly bushings you WILL have a slight gear whine. You can't resolve this. The diff is mounted directly to the subframe. I went from 80a RK bushings to Superpro. This made a significant difference, especially in gear shock. As long the diff sounds smooth and you don't experience any binding...

Diff rebuild by "pro" not going well

I hope you have it solved this time. I can imagine that it's getting really frustrating at this point.

Diff rebuild by "pro" not going well

The sound in the clip sounds like a (too) low preload. Meaning the rollers can skid. This is actually a intermediate control when you set bearing preload. You will notice when this skidding sound is gone (all rollers have some tension forcing the rollers to roll) you are close to the correct...

Diff rebuild by "pro" not going well

This kind of bearing damage can also be the result of too high bearing preload.

Diff rebuild by "pro" not going well

This is to be expected, the oil film is thicker. The mean operating temperature of the diff will normally be around 90C of 194f. You will need to compare the viscosity vs temperature of the different oils. But the base oil for the 85W is already higher in viscosity. I have used a solid spacer...

Diff rebuild by "pro" not going well

It is the actual torque starting from nothing. It should be a very smooth transition from not rotating to slowly rotating. So, not by measuring higher and then when rotating it lowers. The bearings will fail prematurely this way. Edit, i have to add this way of measuring is the according the...

Oil from exhaust after forged rebuild + tune

First of all run in the engine so that the pistons rings seat properly. If this does not help and if the spark plugs have the correct color, i would take a closer look at the turbo (check if the turbine wheel isn't wet with oil or black, should be grey-ish)

Ok, i don't know my reading exactly anymore, but 25 in lb seems fine.

Diff rebuild by "pro" not going well

Not saying my situation is similar to your problem, but recently i replaced the pinion bearings (with crush sleeve) due to a slightly too high preload on the solid spacer and perhaps vibrations of the propeller shaft. During installation of the rebuild diff i found that the propeller shaft...

Diff rebuild by "pro" not going well

Very nice informative topic. I also rebuild my own diffs. Piratip already gave much useful information. My experience with solid spacer is not great. A crush sleeve works very accurate and worry free. For setting pinion depth i honed out a old top bearing, so i can remove the shaft easily...

Polyurethane subframe bushings for the MA70 Supra

Yes, i have that kit already, but i mean for the subframe, the big bushes which bolt to the body

Polyurethane subframe bushings for the MA70 Supra

Are the bushings still available? Front and Rear. The raptor site is under construction.
