    diff questions

Besides not being able to retain the stub axles, the truck diffs are different dimensions. The ring gear mounting flange is not the same distance from the bearing shoulders. This means you can bolt the ring on to the truck locker but it will not line up with the pinion once fitted into the IRS...

    LSD Rebuild?

The stub shafts have 30 splines. The ARB air locker may not fit the supra IRS, I am not sure. If you do try it, make sure you get one for a front IFS. The truck rear locker will not work in the supra IRS.

    Shimming a diff?

Here's some good info although the shimming part is not explained well enough in our opinion. We are finishing up our kits for this LSD. It will come with springs, shims and instructions. http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=100618 Spence Weir Weir Performance 707-315-6638

    LSD Rebuild?

    LSD Rebuild?

We have the 1500 lb. spring set up in a car already, it locks very hard and does not do the one tire fire any longer. We are still working on the street/strip set up. We will test both spring set ups for break away torque readings with properly shimmed clutches and post up here on supramania...

    LSD Rebuild?

Well I have to disagree with alot of what you stated here. First, the "old" style clutches do not have any friction material deposited on the clutch plates. They are in fact steel, the rotating plates are polished from the factory, the stationary plates are black phosphate coated. Also, you are...

    LSD Rebuild?

Seth, The hewland type LSD units also use pressure rings in addition to the conical washers. Since the MKIII supra does not have pressure rings you cannot load the plates with a conical spring washer as done in the Hewland LSD units. This will cause the side gears to be forced hard into the...

    LSD Rebuild?

Guys, We are working on a solution for this LSD. What I want to explain here is what causes this LSD to not function correctly is not due to the clutches. It's our opinion that replacing the clutches is a waste of money. Most LSD units use some sort of mechanical pressure ring or other device...
