I have a full 2.5" exhaust with no converter to put on the car already. does it pay to put an intake on or is it a waste?

No it has not. Just recently got another supra nicer than the one I had. I'm going to swap out the bad parts for the good ones off the other car. Also do a trans swap from auto to 5speed.
