If it is 180 degrees it will not start. If it is 2 teeth off it probably won't start.

The light is on because the ECU is powered without a pick up signal. That is normal. Nothing to do with the alternator.

High fuel pressure can over come a few different problems. Or stated more correctly, hide the problem when the mixture is easier to light.

The VSV mentioned in the thread is behind the alternator. That is much faster to take off than the intake manifold.

You could check a reputable radiator rebuild shop. They do exist. I find it hard to believe in a city the size of Houston you wouldn't have one.

No PCV of any sort? IDL=Idle. The TPS has contacts that open when you accelerate. They close when you take your foot of the pedal. That is deceleration fuel cut. But I am thinking that isn't your issue. You can check for a 51 anyway. The PCV doesn't cause a car to smoke when operating...

For future refrence, the feedback circuit, in general, is the last place to look for a misfire. I think that is even in one of the TM's, the one that shows how to use the Vetronix.
