Another thing I'm interested in, is that Greddy is working on tuning the FA20 engine in these. Both turbo and NA products from what I read in a recent Super Street (believe it was SS). Anyway, I think with the 12.5:1 compression AND boost, this will be an insanely fun and responsive car. Now the...
Definitely a repost, I believe I mentioned that a buddy of mine and I pulled an engine out a wrecked Supra with a Yukon and a chain in the other thread... Anyway, to post a video in a thread, put tags on either side of the URL for the video, like so...
Makes sense, but thanks for clarifying. I loosened up my BOV a bit last night before going home, and it seems to have alleviated the fuel cutting by limiting the boost right where I like it, but it was still cutting out in the morning in the cool air, so I will tinker with mine a bit more.
Hopefully you drained the oil after doing the BHG...
Anyway, for the exhaust, if you want a nice rumble, go with the HKS, definitely a good sound, and OEM looks if you get the Sport.
Smartest thing you've said in this whole thread. :)
Hell, if I were in the market for a shell, I would be happy that I didn't have to pull out an old, blown engine. About all they're good for in many cases is either scrap, or unique furniture/art...
Same here. Given the power, and state of tune, I could see 11's pretty easily with some decent tires. If tuned better, high 10's might happen with a damned good driver. This car is still a 5 speed, correct?
I bet it would actually sound good when it is done... I get a bit of noise through the amp that comes through the speakers, RPM dependent, and it gives my car a bit of a supercharged sound (at least on the inside of the car). :)
Haha, if it were that simple, it would not be an issue man. I have the boost controller set on its absolute lowest setting (Turbosmart MBC), with the gate system removed to prevent spiking (which was causing fuel cut). Thing only hits like 12psi without it, but with it, it keeps climbing right...
If I remember correctly, he AC compressor sitting on my engine might be the same one that was in the car when we pulled the 7m out... but I could be wrong, it has been a while since the swap. 1j and 2j have their accessories in the same spot. :)
What cams are you running, and what sort of elevation are you at? Given that your old engine created more vacuum, I would think that you may have a leak somewhere...
Better to be sure than assume though, right? :)
If you don't want to go the whole distance with checking the thing out, at least check for funny bends or cracks in the door openings/sills, under the bumpers (just look under the car, should look straight for the most part), check for overspray...
Well, if you are hell bent on fixing this car, I won't stop you, however... the 7m isn't like most any motor. If you cut even a single corner, you have VERY good chances that it will come back to haunt you later on. ;)
