    7m-gte from www.risingsunengines.com

Rabidchimps.com goes thru the motor and checks the bearing. The also do a MHG and ARP studs, new seals, and new oil pump. I also asked them if they would do ARP studs and they said they would for only the cost of the studs and $25 labor. The regular 7M is 2,000 + shipping and with the ARP...

After many descisions, i have decided to go 1jz.

Well Ford gave up on the 5.0 (302) in 1996 for the newly engineered 4.6 in the Mustangs. Still seeing the old 5.0's mopping the dragstrips and streets with Ford's "newer" motor.

    Used JDM 7M Success???

88supraTT....it depends if you want the turbo, manifolds, etc. I don't need all the extra items, so there are sellers that sell just the longblock. If you get the whole ball of wax it is going to cost upwards of $1000 + shipping.

    Used JDM 7M Success???

CPT Furious, what was your total cost after all was said and done? I am only planning to be in the 375-425 hp range and was originally looking at getting a factory short block. Recently I have been thinking about refreshing a JDM, which should be good for years of "honorable service" for half...

    Used JDM 7M Success???

Has anyone had experience, positive/negative, with used 7MGTE motors from eBay and such. Seams like a cheap route to go. Buy the motor for $800-$900 shipped. Pull the head, resurface for MHG. replace valve stem seals, ARP studs, new oil pump, gaskets. I guess you could go as far as to...

    7mgte vs 1jzgte

Grim, I would say IJ said it better than myself...."an evolution of what they learned in the M series" The turbo was a late addition to the M series of motors. The 1J was designed for turbos at the onset.

    7mgte vs 1jzgte

1J is a far superior motor as far as engineering is concerned. The 7M is the last revision of a long successful line of Toyota motors and has stood the test of time. However, compared to the 1J, the engineering is without a doubt antiquated. The 1J appears to be more tolerant to people who...

CK, why did you go standalone? I thought the IJ ECUs were fairly robust and could handle most everthing with a couple of piggy backs.

    1.5 JZ displacement?

Ur right there drunk medic. Called Jay Marks and a new shortblock is 2200 plus 80 freight. Wow... a 2J shortblock is cheaper than a 7M shorblock- who would have figured. Thanks for the tip! And to think I thought medics were losers when I was in the Army :)
