Kurt: You need to know what the lift @ 50 thou is meant to be, once you have that you put a degree wheel on the crank snout find true 0 and line it up with a pointer.
You then get a dial indicator and place the tip on the cam follower and turn the crank seeing where the wheel is when you hit...
But true 0 changes with all the variables such as gasket thickness head and block surface height even cam belt age/wear/stretch.
Would be nice to graph a stock cam and find out where 50 thou lift is in degrees.
