Actually they're not dim at all. I had the camera settings WAY down so you could see the difference in red tones. They're easily readable at night. And yes, they're lit with superbrightleds.com stuff.

Sorry for the blurredness, but here's a pic: The prosports are AMBER, not "red". You can tell a difference. However, its so minute that IMO its no real big deal. Prosports have an actual "red" setting that if you can wire it correctly, should match better. And yes I know half the tach is out.

I've owned neither the 8500 nor the V-1, but i have close friends with each - the V1 is a very good detector, but IMO the 8500 is better. Better detection, less of an eyesore to look at. Can't go wrong with either, but I'll be picking up a 8500 soon.

Why not? Unless he's running really high quality gear and has the whole car deadened, whats the harm in using 3' of the factory wiring? Its just wire, its not like in our cars it'll make a noticeable difference. Its also a hell of a lot easier than running new wires through the door jam!!

Just cut the stock speaker wires on the body side of the door jam, and then splice in new wires running to the trunk... pretty straightforward.

Original plans were to put a 7" touchscreen in the dash..but it became unusable in daylight conditions, and I didn't want to have to bother with a carpc. One of these days I'll get around to properly doing the dash like I want..but for now it's pretty low on my list. Some updates... more...

I have the Superbrightleds.com red's in my cluster, and red/white prosports - its acceptable, but not an exact match. the prosports are more 'amber', however their red intermediate setting is pretty damn close. I'll take pictures tomorrow.

No kidding! I cannot seem to find a good set of them, and that would jsut be neat. Ones that don't crack everytime you install them would be nice
