I believe it was crimped down just for the connector, I could see it balancing harmonic airflow blah blah(toyota speak) but Its probably just to make crap cheaper.

Why waste time cutting and fusing 2 stock 3000 pipes together? Thats pointless. Why not get a 3 inch pipe custom fabbed. Why not buy a HKS pipe like Nick said. He is just doing this to keep it saying 3000. Its pointless, its all aesthetic
