Not too much new here. Went over to my friend's house this weekend, and he helped me to powdercoat by rear calipers red, and my rotor hats black. Decided after disassembling the calipers, that I would go ahead and buy a couple of rebuild kits for them, as one of the slider boots had a tiny tear...

When you're done working on the head, you should recheck the valve lash regardless, because if it's wider than spec, you get a lot of tapping noise from the head.

AArgh! I started assembling the rear subframe today, by installing the arms, diff, and hubs. Problem is- I soon relized that the halfshafts were going to hit the new upper subframe braces! SO, I had to cut them back out. Now I'll have to weld in some new ones, slightly outboard from the original...

+1 for ditching that bumper. :) You can disable the security system by bridging the two wires that lead to the factory hood pin.

I just ordered remans from Autozone. I tried getting them from advanced(would have saved me about $30), but when I tried to pay for the online order, it said they were not available, and couldn't be ordered.

After install of parking brakes, cables and new studs: I sure hope the axles come tomorrow, because I'm running out of things to do back there. Regardless, I guess i'll be reinstalling the differential, hubs and all arms to the subframe, so it should at least *look* like there's progress...

Hey Reign- Welcome back. I know I don't know you personally, but you and I (i think) had joined this site within a few months of each other back in 2005, so it's good to see another veteran back on here. I look forward to your build thread.

Was it possible that the mating surface was slightly uneven? I could see that being a contributing factor... Otherwise, as Suprakid stated, maybe a bad cast.

Thanks, Destrux- makes me feel better about buying Toyota parts. Hmm- The oem's seem to use a spiral spring; doesn't look too difficult to reinstall. Also, just found that my rear toe arm boot is torn on one side- Guess I'll be buying two of those too. :(

I would also check the mount points for all three arms, on the subframe.
