A friends dad had gasoline put into his diesel truck and it did something like this. He pulled out of the station and immediatly went into limp mode, he turned it off and coasted into a parking lot and had it towed.
That upgraded CT in your link looks like it would not be reliable at all. There's a point where the wheel is just too big to be supported in the CT housing and that is it.

I don't see them having much lasting power as most of the buyers are young and looking for a cheap fast car right out the box.
The first night I had my car I went to fill up and couldnt get it open, luckily a friend was with me.
After that I learned my cell phone was perfect size to shove under the lever while i open the fuel door.
