if theres something you broke on a 1J, you're either really careless or have a really powerful engine.
most things you'd need to replace should be bought new anyway... not picked up from a junkyard.

but if you get a clip, then you know the mileage. so what's wrong with that?
as far as doing it right the first time... with my current motor I replaced all the important gaskets and seals. It won't be crapping out on me anytime soon... my 1st motor would still be in my car running strong...
There's plenty 1J and 2J owners who would disagree with your view that it's a waste of time putting the engine in without rebuilding.
The numbers are not in your favor on that arguement
well actually let me step back. i think it was 138 + ship. but that was like about 10 bucks or less or something so its still cheap... considering you get the full gasket kit.
