MAFT Pro in AFC Mode. Do or don't...?

I'm considering installing my maft pro and running it in AFC mode until I can get some welding done for the speed density sensor. Should I do it or just wait...what's your opinion? Thanks everyone!

You got it...good catch! ;) That was my dislexic day. I have one of those about once a week. :biglaugh: I hope we all know what I meant though. :)

Hopefully he remembers everything! ;) Many a 7M has been messed up by various shops/mechanics. There aren't many folks that I would let wrench on my car; but, if you trust him, he knows the 7M, and he does good work, I would treat him well because he'll be worth it! :)

    Just installed my Walbro...

Yep yep. Just a matter of installing it. I'm currently in the middle of the vf and Maft information listed on mkiiitech.com. I want to get as much of the basics understood before I put it in.

Maybe a dumb question here; but, can the condition of part throttle detonation be corrected with a proper tune or is it something that we will always deal with unless we go stand-alone? If that's a big question just say so and I'll hunt the answer down myself. ;) grim: Are you running the...

I hear ya. I can honestly say that I don't miss the trunk space. Ha, I actually don't even miss my back seat accessibility because of the harness bar. I figure I'm in the driver's seat and that's all that matters! :)

Yeah, that 9 volt drop is what I heard is the headache. I hear ya on pushing it. That's what they're made for. I just figured I'd do it later on. Plus, it'll give me more appreciation for the mod. ;)

Grim: No, I'm hitting high 10's at WOT now. I'll leave it. My Maft and 550's are next. It's going to be a little bit of time and work because I'll be changing intercoolers and intercooler pipe so I have to coordinate the time with my welder friend. He's going to provide some NICE welds...

Matt: Yep, it's a 10. It's a JL to match the amp. The kid I bought the car from put that blue neon on all sides of the car and one right behind the amp. I'm not really into that whole thing; but, when they're on, the blue light comes from the heat sinks on the amp and looks pretty cool. I'll...

So should I put my fuel pressure back up to 35?

    Just installed my Walbro...

I have the areomotive AFPR kit. J-Tube gone! I'm not sure I want to do that yet, or at all for that matter. I've read too many conflicting threads on that subject I guess. I had planned on waiting to see if I'll want to do that after I get my Maft in and start tuning.

    Just installed my Walbro...

I finally installed my Walbro after a year and a half of it sitting on my bench. I installed a new fuel filter as well. I immediately noticed a few things. 1) Super smooth idle (was stumbling at bit prior to the Walbro & Filter) 2) A drop in fuel pressure. Went from 35 (vac off) to 32...

    Injector question

I'll only address a couple of your questions. The lexus AFM allows for 25% more air flow. 550cc injectors are 25% more fuel over the 440's. This keeps the afr's/fuel curve where they should be. 300hp is not the limit of 440's. Do some research on the duty cycle of injectors and how...

It’s been a while since I’ve visited this subject; but, the thermostat prevents coolant flow to the radiator allowing the engine to reach operating temp as quickly as possible reducing engine wear, crud deposits throughout the coolant path, emissions and such… So with the...

    Help..bhg???

Ok. Start with changing your oil and coolant. Then acquire a coolant pressure tester. They're available everywhere. Napa, Autozone, Sears... Even better if a buddy has one you can borrow. They come with various caps to accommodate most all radiators. Pressurize to approximately 1.5 bar...

Air in the cooling system can leave you stranded on side of the road with the radiator cap blown off and lost somewhere on the highway, coolant all over your windshield, and you standing there with the 'WT' look on your face. Aside from that, air in the cooling system means un-even cooling...
