it's only smog legal if you address every little thing that the bar ref is going to check to make a 2J swap in a MK3 smog legal which almost no one has ever bothered to do. just putting it in the car won't make it legal.
so you see my point. smog legal is irrelevant to most all applications. :) This is my view.
Once you start modding, everything goes out the window and you're just as illegal as any 1J, 7M, or 2J with mods.
I disagree.
Out of all the blown turbos threads and posts made by 1JZ people, maybe 1 out of 4 actually had shattered or broken turbines and that's being generous still I think. The rest of the blown turbos are always the oil seals, not the ceramic turbine.
I've had 3 sets of blown...
There's Supras that are fixer uppers and Supras that should just be put out of their misery. It's not a travesty or anything.
You're right. you do have to start somewhere but that somewhere doesn't need to be a POS BHG'd rusted car.
Not everyone wants to create an episode of overhaulin...
You can get a catback for less than 500... again, used parts or something custom would work fine.
I merely wanted to correct something MRSUPRA said and I did that and he understood it. Look, I'm not going to argue this post after post with you other two because I know it will go on and on...
used parts, mbc instead. you don't need to spend 1500 just like you don't need to spend 8000 on a built 7M. see what I'm getting at? MRSUPRA gave pretty decent pricing on the 7M part but then top dollar on the 2J spending.
If he wants to crush the care, who cares? It's not like a '90 Supra is rare or anything. And if the condition isn't that great, then it's not a major loss. There's tons of Supras around I think should be crushed.
