Cool cars have the gas tank on that side, also in general cool cars have the exhaust either on the left side or dual. Not set in stone, and uncool cars can have it on the left side, but usually if a car is cool, it will have the exhaust on the left ;).

Lotus and Toyota have had a long history of colaboration. Not sure how much so on the styling front, but it's certainly possible.
Lotus Esprit has Toyota tail lights from the 1984-85 Corolla 3-door hatchback.
I guess, but only in North America. The 86 came Turbocharged in other countries (ie: Japan). In fact Japan only had Turbo MA70's, and that included 86.

I like having both a hardcopy and electronic copy. Makes things nice and easy for any time you need to look something up.
Different oil pan, no ACIS (I believe), will probably have to change some stuff, but you could use parts from a dead Canadian 7M-GE, for a lot of the stuff anyways.
^^^ What he said, never buy an "install kit" for the Supra. Use the factory brackets, and a Toyota DIN pocket, you can even get a Toyota DIN pocket with a flip-down cover on it. They are about $5.00 and $20.00 respectively from Toyota.
Buy the harness adapter, that's like $3.00, then the DIN...
