Toyota has done that MANY times on other vehicles, and the only time they ever used a half-year designation was for the Supra, because there was already an 86 Supra, the MK2. Also, the 1997 Supra was the 15th Anniversary Edition. Wanna know what's funny? I can argue your side of the issue...

Neither side is power, neither side is ground. Both sides are both power and ground. Power gets applied to one wire to roll the window down, power gets applied to the other wire to roll the window up, similarily for ground. If the window rolls down but not up, it is a switch issue.
