YES the A/T ECT selects shift points by looking at TPS values.
If you look at TSRM you will see the chart with % throttle and shift point for both Norm and Power.

Good news guys we drove it 450 miles problem free to SEMA, I'm going to say it was just a little 2 much slip on fletch's part.

Update: According to Fletch the car is driving normal. Also the Clutch in the car is a Spec stage 2 kevlar from MVP with approx. 4000 miles on the clutch

In lower gears there is much higher torque at the wheels and same (one could argue less) torque at the clutch.
In higher gears the wheels have much less torque and the clutch experiences the same (again one could argue more) torque.

I had him do a 15 psi pull to redline in 3rd and it didn't slip, so I'm 95% sure it's tire slip in first.
