No, handling the green plastic on the back of the gauge cluster will not damage it at all. Like tlo86 said, static could potentially damage one of the components in the clusters parts (tach, fuel gauge, etc), but that is also highly unlikely.

Not at all, lol. Well, they're giving me a good deal ($6100 was with a decent discount), but normally they charge pretty much the same as any other bodyshop in town. ($65.00 an hour).
Surprisingly (VERY) I actually kind of like it. I wouldn't do it, but I think if you like it, you should keep it. It's pretty unique and matches your wheels great.
