Early 87 7M-GTE's came from the factory with 70A alternators.

Great way to wear out your headlight switch prematurely. Upside: Nil.

Depends on year/model. Some options did result in the same alternator across the GE and GTE. That being said, they are totally interchangeable. 1988+ GTE's are all 80A, so those are the best alternators to get.

Every now and then I've had it happen, exactly as you describe, but it will do it with more than that. I usually have to restart my computer. It's only happened a few times, but it's very annoying.
