No, the heads are very different, as is the oil pump. The GTE uses a vastly different ignition control system, involving 2 single-tooth cam position sensors and a 12-tooth crank position sensor. The GE has a distributor and spark plug wires. The intake and exhaust port spacing is completely...

    Replacement key code

Agreed, it wouldn't be much work for the locksmith to cut a key based on the lock cylinder, not to mention he only has 4 choices, which you can look up and see which one looks right, cut it and go. Also, I agree, it should be less than $40 to get one of each key code, IMO. Jeff

    Replacement key code

I'd also like to recommend you delete this thread when you've come to the conclusion you need. Don't want everyone knowing your key code. Jeff

    question about the dash harness?

There are quite a few different harnesses for the A70 USA/Canada Supras. While I am not aware (as it has been a long time since I've had the dash apart), you'll need to find out what harnesses you are plugging into what, and then go from there to find any differences. The following list is only...

The bottom ends are the same with the exception of the oil squirters, oil feed ports for the turbos, and pistons. An important note regarding the oiling, is that because there are no squirters or turbo feeds (which are all on the exhaust side of the block), the oil passage linking the pump feed...

Speedometer showing much to high after W58-R154 swap..

What was the W58 from, what was the R154 from? What rear end do you have? You'll need to get your speedometer gearing in the transmission to match your rear end and tires. If you still have the N/A rear end with a turbo transmission, your speedo will definitely be off. Jeff

    A holes on here

I like to think that age typically has very little to do with the people on here. Of course the general trend is that as people get older, they become more mature and in a group of younger car owners you will get more people being immature. That being said, sometimes you will get older people...

Movies every gearhead needs to watch

I saw a small part of it, and it did interest me, so I rented and watched the entire thing. It was not good. Every time anything bad happened, somehow it just wasn't a problem. Felt very unrealistic, even though it was trying to portray a "true" story. I found reading information about Burt...

    Question about ECUs

Toyota offered (but doesn't really do it much anymore) Denso remanufactured ECU's. There are probably aftermarket companies doing the same. Jeff

    Alternator question

GE and GTE alternators are physically interchangeable. Early GTE's were also 70A. They switched to 80A part way through 87. Jeff
