Check out this sweet bondo shell

gonzy I don't think that "body kit" is going anywhere. There's probably 100lb of bondo on that thing. Not something I'd do to a car but it does seem pretty clean aside from the crack. I think some lowering springs or coilovers and lower offset wheels would be a big improvement to the look...

Bolt sizes for JZ block to bellhousing

Anyone know off the top of their head what bolts I need to mate the bellhousing to my 1JZ. Neither the engine or bellhousing I have came with them. I'd get off my ass and check myself but the cars in another state.

AR5 Trans Take Two: The Solstice Solution

I'm doing the same thing, colorado AR5 to 1jz, and my initial attempt to bolt it up seemed to stop about 5mm short. So it would make sense that's whats happening with mine (splines bottoming out.) Limequat: I take it the input shaft is longer on the colorado trans than the solstice one? You...

    Best Source for Subframe Bushings?

I was thinking about filling mine, too. I've seen some bimmer guys use this, including my brother on one of his cars, with good results: http://www.bimmernut.com/forum/5-series-bmw/23441-liquid-urethane-filled-subframe-bushings.html

    Miekedmr's build thread

Nothing too exciting but I felt like updating: I ordered a 15mm ID 32mm OD double sealed bearing from mcmaster, to use as a pilot bearing. Since the bearing is thinner compared to stock (OD-ID,) I figured it was worth it to splurge and get the "precision plus" type. I also ordered a clutch...

    Miekedmr's build thread

I'm going to write down the things I've got to do, here, since so far this project (in it's current incarnation,) has been mostly daydreams and bar conversation. Part I: Getting it [back] on the road Get the 1jz to start and idle outside the car. fuel pump in a bucket of gas, bare minimum...

    2008 Supra MKIII - Project 1BYDFALT

Yeah, I'm willing to believe that'd be plenty strong with your added fasteners. Especially if you're going with a lighter dry cell or something. Good luck, look forward to seeing more of this car-porn project from you! :)

    2008 Supra MKIII - Project 1BYDFALT

Maybe something like this? Replacing the cut out section with thicker steel. Or you could just weld plate right on top of it.. But you'd still want to find some way to attach the plate directly to the floor up top there, I think.

    2008 Supra MKIII - Project 1BYDFALT

Sorry, I didn't mean lateral on the car, I mean lateral on the bolt. As in head-on collision, or side impact, or rear impact, with the way they are oriented. And you're right; I didn't figure they had screw threads. But you could drill the holes out like you said. If the sturdiness of the...

    2008 Supra MKIII - Project 1BYDFALT

How much lateral force does it take to shear off one bolt of that size? According to this page: http://www.boltscience.com/pages/faq.htm#3 I'd use that and then pretend I only really have 2 or 3 bolts. (one way to provide a safety margin.) I'm sure it would help to replace those with...

Supra Truck Build - 1988 Supra - 1974 Hilux Cab

Looks good so far. I look forward to some action shots of it going around a bend. :) This thread might get moved to the "other cars" forum, but I don't know for sure. Is the wheelbase the same as it was on the supra? Otherwise I think the steering geometry will be slightly off.

Supra Truck Build - 1988 Supra - 1974 Hilux Cab

Are you still building out the frame over the rear subframe? Or are you planning to have it attached just at the front? Is there any other reinforcement being done to the subframe?
