The 4G63 IS an awesome engine - it's too bad Mitsu didn't design a drivetrain that can properly handle it's potential, or the potential of the 6G72.

    Big Lesson Learned!

N2O - but saying NO2 is better than saying NOS.

    JDM Digital dash

You could do it if you did a complete right-hand-drive swap.. Worth it? Probably not.

got a new car - check this out *pics*

I fart in the VQ35DE's general direction! Still, not a bad car - for a Nissan. :)

Anyone done a 1jz swap and kept the auto tranny?

The problem with auto 1JZs is the gearbox strength. It will work for stock and "BPU" applications, but it's not recommended beyond that, while the 5-speed is known to be pretty strong. If you want an auto 1JZ AND you want power, I's recommend integrating a built A340E from a 2JZ-GTE...

    Big Lesson Learned!

Never drink on or near the job, and never drink and drive. Even if YOU deserve the consequences, the Supra doesn't.

I know that the phrase "there's no replacement for displacement" has been KIND OF proven wrong [you can take a smaller displacement engine and use boost as artificial displacement by cramming a larger volume of air in the combustion chamber], and people use a little bit of technology to make...

When I put my intercooler on and cranked my boost controller to 13psi, I couldn't keep traction if I launched at 2500. I used to. To hook up correctly and not spin tires, I launch at 1500, and I am only using a TRD sport clutch. As for the RB - it's stock internals don't handle the same as...

    Big Lesson Learned!

I thought there were many lessons learned that are much more important. It doesn't sound like you learned a lesson at all. "Don't show off" "Don't speed, especially in a residential area" "Don't run from cops - they will find you and things will be MUCH worse" I would hate for you to...

The problem with most of the rev-happy motors is that yes, they are nice/decent when they get INTO your powerband, but from a stop it can feel like an eternity to get there. You think turbo-lag is bad? I happen to think that a rev-happy 4-banger with a case of "NA lag" is worse.

You've got to see this GTR.

The 4A-GZE was pretty popular. HKS released a "Twin-Charger" system. Turbocharged AND supercharged - and then some people would add a Blitz pulley to the supercharger to pull even more power out. One of those in a lil lightweight 1G MR2 is a killer.

    Started the swap

Manual tranny too - nice price. Good luck with getting it all done in your time frame. So long as you are good with crimping/soldering, it looks like you will have it in no problem, especially with how motivated you are from the start. Picked up and stripped in a day? Nice. Let us know how it goes!

If I wanted revs I'd buy a sport bike, a rotary powered Mazda, or a Honda. Only one of those three can beat a Supra on a regular basis.

    turboboss

I heard about them 3-4 years ago. I've seen their front facing intake mani, and I know they also make motor mounts. I've heard nothing positive OR negative about them, except about their prices.

    W00T for UPS!!

..wait, your screen name is your REAL name? The MAFT looked interesting, and I would probably go that route or with the E-manage ultimate if I was sticking with the 7M. At least they are doing better than the FCON/VPC these days. I hear that those solutions run you really rich and...

    DP arrived :D

Man, if you can afford that downpipe, surely you can afford a jack, chocks and tools to accomplish this on your own? It doesn't take much skill to turn a few wrenches. May take a little elbow-grease, liquid wrench and muscle, but that's a hell of alot cheaper than having a shop install a simple...

    Short shifter...B&M....IS300...W58...R154

Think it may be possible to take the shifter apart a little and set it in a lathe to shave down a little material where it's fat under the threads? I don't like it, but I can deal.. Still, I know how to use a lathe now, and have access to one. I guess I'll find out when I get my shifter.

    Hurricane Dennis

I am back at my place right now. We have power, cable, water.. no damage anywhere, even to the windows. Car is fine - just a little dirty. The yard needs cleaned, and one big branch from a tree broke. It didn't even peel away from the tree completely. Tomorrow is going to be a LONG day at work.
