3S is actually a bulky 4-banger. Believe it or not, the engine compartment of a MR-2 is more cramped with the 3S than it is with a V-6 from a Lexus. I believe the engine used in Turbo Magazine's "MR-6" was a 2.5L 2MZ-FE, and it fit the car better than the stock 3S-GTE.

They probably took what they wanted from it, whether the jaw, meat, fins or whatever, and buried it. Fish can fertilize a bit.

The statement about the 2JZ not being MAP based is only partially true. In the US/UK the 2JZs are MAF based, but most people get a front clip from Japan where the 2JZ is in fact, equipped with a MAP sensor. Just something to keep in mind.
