    Supra won't idle/run

I'll answer this since no one else did... Yes. Use a flat head screw driver to turn it either clockwise or counter clock-wise to increase or decrease your idle RPMs... I just did this yesterday on my 87. I believe the later Supras (89 to 92) don't have this option but I could be wrong.

Car Only Runs for a Minute.

You are doing a good job; hang in there. :burnout: Swapping parts off a running car is a smart idea but the thing is, are you sure you put these parts in your car correctly? When it comes to car problems do not assume anything. For example, if the CPS is off by a tooth or so, you can...

    what to do??

No problem. Fuel: With the fuel I would get 550 cc injectors, a Walbro high flow fuel pump or a MKIV fuel pump, and the Aeromotive Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator. You are going to need the S-AFC or some kind of piggyback computer or the AEM system to tune your car - tune the...

    what to do??

A waste on an automatic car - No. Some prefer them over the manual. Run stock - someone told me high 15.0's, low 16.0's. Mine's at low 12.0's.

    what to do??

As far as slow and heavy - that is not the way you should look at this car. They do weigh 3600+ pounds and that is heavy for a sportscar, but with a turbo setup they can move! I have the stock turbo and with the Lexus/550 setup I have 400 horsepower and beat up 2 Mustang GTs, 2 modified...

Car Only Runs for a Minute.

It sounds like your O2 sensor is bad. Did you check it as described in the Toyota manual (TSRM)? It has a flowchart of steps. I am wondering about your air/fuel ratio - is this a complete stock setup or has it been modified? Check the large, black accordian hose that is right after the AFM...

Do you run more oil then 4 quarts in your supra?

Add another 1/2 quart and see if it goes up. I put 5 quarts in mine. Check under the car to see if you have a leak or put a sheet of flat cardboard under there and check it in the morning.

    What causes backfire?

Thanks but my BOV does not vent to the atmosphere - it recirculates. I think it is too rich and needs tuned some more... After 6 years, the car is finally where I want it to be -- soon I can go do this :drink1:

    What causes backfire?

I set the timing as per the TSRM and it smoothed out my idle but still have the backfire problem between gears, especially between 1st and 2nd. What causes the backfire upon deceleration? (I have the Lexus/550, S-AFC, HKS SSQV BOV, new plugs, new coil packs, new coil pack ground wire. The...

    Car doesn't stay on

Sorry - I meant a Lexus replica Supra-Sport one. I will reset the timing and synchronize the CPS.

A 88 Turbo Virgin here. Please help.

You had a question about the Toyota Red Coolant. Yes, for these cars use the Toyota Red Coolant and a bottle of Redline's Water Wetter - a good combo. The Toyota Red Coolant is very expensive - it is $18.00 per jug. Water wetter is a good anti-corrosive and lowers the temperature. Don't...

    Car doesn't stay on

Thanks for the help. Could the timing be way off or the CPS cause this? The AFM is brand new (Lexus). I'll check the AFM electronics and the hoses again. If the CPS is off by a tooth or so, will the car stay on?

    Car doesn't stay on

My problem: The car was missing at idle, and also stalling after stopping at a stop sign. I bought an ISC off of a list member, cleaned it and installed it. I also have new spark plugs (it was time) and new coil packs (one was bad). I took off my TPS and cleaned that too. I made sure the...

    poor oil pressure indication

Hrmmm... I always heard it is most likely the sending unit. I guess check all the items you listed... By the way, my does the same thing - I just check the level of oil to make sure it is OK and ignore that gauge.

    Timing Belt

Thanks for the link shaeff. That helped a lot. I already have the thermostat housing, power steering reservoir, and timing belt cover off. I also have the spark plugs removed but that was for something else. Although the belt seems to be fine I am going to replace it with a new one...

    Timing Belt

I looked at the TSRM and it outlines a lot of steps to take out the timing belt. Is this all required -- take out radiator, take off clutch fan assembly, etc. It seems like I can do it without taking the radiator out. It also says no dirt, dust or oil should hit the belt but I see a lot of...

    Think I've got the BHG...

I know the feeling. If you don't know already: you can put the heater temperature in your car on 85 degrees and turn the fan on high. This will help the overheating when the gauge is in the red. Not great in hot weather as this will make it unbearable in the car - I know! If you rebuild go...

    car died

The ISC is the Idle Speed Control. I just had this same problem - my ISC was filthy inside -- lots of soot. I cleaned it up and it seems to be OK now. There are 2 coolant lines and one air line from the ISC. There are 2 bolts you need to deal with and then you can get it off. If you...

    car misfires under light acceleration

I have had much trouble trying to get my car not to misfire or die after acceleration. The dying after acceleration was caused by my ISC valve being filthy. The misfire problem is a tough one and can be caused by: 1- Improper air/fuel ratio (running too rich for example) 2- Improper fuel...

    car died

Could be ISC - Idle speed control. Mine was dirty and did that. Took it apart and cleaned it - doesn't do it anymore.
