It depends on where you get them from. Kragen or Autozone parts are usually just rebuilt in the back of the store from what I hear. Where are your parts coming form?
Aside from oil gelling (which is avoidable by changing the oil every 3000 miles) I don't think Toyota has had much of an issue with the 2AZ-FE or 1MZ-FE engines or transmissions. But get a stick shift just in case.
