If you are not mechanically inclined you should not try to work on the fueling system. Period. Take it to a professional.
Best way to check fuel pressure is with a fuel pressure tester installed at the fuel filter to the line to the rail. If you don't know how to use it right, you shouldn't use it at all. Go to an ASE certified shop and tell them you have trouble starting the car first thing in the morning, and...
Fuel. Check the filter and pressure.
Verify pressure doesn't bleed off immediately after shutting the engine down. If it does, bad check valve. Bad check valve = fuel pump.
