Probe Forged Pistons: You want 'em? GB!

Have you gotten an impression from them as to what the final price will be? I know you said it would drop with quantity, and that at the point of having an order of approx. 20-30 sets would bring the price to around $350 w/ rings- is that still the estimate with 45+ sets on order? Just curious...

Probe Forged Pistons: You want 'em? GB!

OK, It doesn't sound like this is going to be in our hands for a couple of months yet, but I'm not gonna be one of those GB guys that backs out at the last minute either, so I'm gonna go pick up all my machine parts from the shop, and sit on them till this happens. I was hoping this'd get going...

    port and polish

You don't want the exhaust ports much larger than they already are. The reason is that the ports are supposed to be smaller than the manifold they dump into (as stated above), so that the exhaust gases will have less ability to reverse back into the cylinder. That's whats called the reversionary...

Turbo lag reduced via driveshaft change?

Damn- I hope this isn't true, cause I'm about to install a AL driveshaft. I guess it means that my CT will spool like a T4/1.15 AR.

Probe Forged Pistons: You want 'em? GB!

Doward- when do you expect a final go-ahead from Probe? And whenever the creation process begins- how long will it take to get the product out to the people? I'm sitting on a freshly machined block/head, waiting to see if this is going to happen. Sorry for the impatience, but I need to get this...

    delayed cranking

I've had the same problem for the last two yrs, intermittently. I usually see it happen in the winter/ colder weather. There are times when I have to hold the key in the start position for up to a minute, then all of a sudden, it cranks at full speed, as if nothing were wrong. Other times, I...

On the road to a private pilots license.

Not during a stall? VG's aren't about to cause anyone to NOT recover from a stall. VG's just improve adhesion of the laminar flow over a surface. This improves the effectiveness of the trailing edge devices as well. They don't cause cause loss of control, they cause improvement of control.

For the same reason, I imagine. The underside of the tail is where you want lift to occur, basically pulling down on the tail.

MKIII Brake line to MKIV Caliper, (A fitting question)(Pics)

MKIII Brake line to MKIV Caliper, (A fitting question)(Pics)

I would use teflon tape, but because it is a flare fitting, I would go without the washers. If it leaks- it won't be that much trouble to remove the bolt and install said washers anyway.

    Eliminating thermostat

I second the recommendation of just getting a better rad. My temps would rise during the warm months of summer, and I had no BHG and I tried various rated Tstats. What cured it was getting rid of my 8 yr old radiator, and putting in a CSF. Temp never budges.

On the road to a private pilots license.

You sure about the only civilian rated to fly Phantoms? I assume that you mean he's never been military, because the examiner who gavwe me my CFI(based at KJFX) used to fly recon on the edge of Cuban airspace, though of course, he WAS military. We've got a couple of L39's based here, as well as...

On the road to a private pilots license.

Actually flew over your house yesterday, Doc. I had to fly a new G36 Bonanza back from a town called Mena(KMEZ), Arkansas to Atlanta. Although I have about 30 hours in Bonanzas, I failed to mention to the guy that it was ALL right seat, and that I had never actaully operated one. It flew as I...

On the road to a private pilots license.

Training for a helicopter rating added to your pilots license will cost you about $6000 - $8000, I would guess. Even the smallest helicopter costs 50% more than a decent C172SP per hour. Of course its pretty neat to hover, but I prefer fixed wing aircraft. Good luck with your training, and enjoy...

    hand brake light always on

The other thing is the connection to the handle itself. Pull up the ebrake boot, and you'll see the wire at the base of the handle. It should take 30 seconds and no tools to check.

    driveshaft question...

If you bend over and lift the tranny with your back instead of knees, and nothing pops in your spine, you have a W58.

It also is there to indicate when your brake fluid level is low. Cheeck that first.
