Good news for ME! I did get my radiator swapped tonight, and I just got back from a 35 mile ride. All is well!!!!!!!!!!! I should be able to get over there pretty early now. Now I just need to get with the folks over here to set up (or join) a caravan.

I once drove my 85 MKII with no clutch for a couple of months, cause I couldn't afford to fix it. It can be done, but it's no fun at all. You have to have the car off to get in first gear, and start it while it takes off. Then raise rpms pretty good to make each shift. Not proud of that poverty...

It is so much easier to look at one in the flesh sometimes. Sometimes it's hard for a camera to get to certain areas. I love having more than one in the yard just for that reason. My 87 was so handy when puting my 90 together. Now, I'm putting a motor in the 87, so the 90 has a debt to pay off

I think $2500 is a lot of money to put into a motor and not know exactly how bad the "foundation" got beat on. You could end up wishing you would have waited til you had the money to complete the job. But if all looks good, you could be OK for a while.
