Before I replaced my HG mine started gushing oil from the back of the head (started a small fire) so I guess antifreeze leak at head gasket is possible but definitely check the two hoses at the back of the engine first.

Problem with a helicoil is like MKiiiNA said "slivers of metal in cylinder". You could try to vacuum out through the plug hole but you never know if you got all of the shavings and if you didn't kaboom!

Did you use the oil pump from your old engine? Is the oil pump in this engine new? How's the oil pressure? If the oil pump aint getting it your engine will make a sound similar to what you describe. Good luck.
