    Is This Normal?

Dunckel goes the extra mile. Man, glad I live where it never snows or freezes. Screw that noise. Still, it fired right up at a touch of the key. Impressive ;) GS: Water is a good thing. Shows your combustion is clean. Not so good for the exhaust system but hey, you can't have it all....

    Is This Normal?

It's BHG, it's normal, it's BHG. Lol... Water vapor is one of the two major constituents of correct combustion. You live in Ontario. It's January. That's my story and I'm sticking to it...

    Spark Plug Firing Order

Firing order is 153624. The plugs fire in pairs because it's a waste spark system. If you place the high order plugs over the low order ones in a waste spark system you get the pairs: 1-6, 5-2, 3-4. Does that help or confuse you more? :)

    Schaeffer Motor Oil

I dunno if I'd call it second to none. Just about anything you buy today that's Grp III or better with a decent add pack is going to be fine. Once you've studied this stuff as long as I have you end up coming full circle to realize for the typical engine it really doesn't matter. These days I...

    Schaeffer Motor Oil

I've never used it Dunk by they hang out over on BITOG and lots of people swear by them. I don't believe they make a true syn though. I used to use a place called Specialty Formulations over there for many of my lubricants but I don't think he's still in business. The guy is a master petro...

Specific electronic components to cover when steam cleaning?

Just take care and it'll be fine. Steam is good but solvent shines where oil and grease is involved. Messy but does a great job. For solvent amble on down to the local hardware store and buy a gallon of kerosene. You'll be smellin' purty for at least a week ;)

Specific electronic components to cover when steam cleaning?

Not that Harbor Fright is quality but you get the idea: http://tinyurl.com/yrt2ow Get a drip pan to go with it. Both items are cheap just about anywhere. A compressor on the other hand...;)

Specific electronic components to cover when steam cleaning?

A compressed air solvent gun would be a better idea but I've both pressure washed and steamed mine several times over the years without problem. Connectors on the engine are weatherproof unless the seals have been lost. You might want to cover the alternator and induction inlet but it's not...

    oil leak (pics)

No oil pressure under that cap. Good stuff. My vote on the leak is oil lines. Not only do they tend to go bad but look at the sway bar. Also, if the gage is to be trusted...

    Engine swap from Hell?

EGR could cause a problem because the way it is now the ECU can't shut it off above 4000 rpm or when the engine is cold. As for keeping it my position is well known: it helps surpass detonation and provide other benefits associated with lower combustion temps. Plus you may end up selling the...

    Engine missing

^ rikita-boom! Ken: Lots of things can cause erratic running, including the CPS, especially in a newly installed and/or rebuilt engine. My point was CPS signals are very important stuff and they need to be solid before looking for other causes. Basics first.

    What's up everyone

Hello Wisconsin. What, no Vista Cruiser in that collection? Welcome again. Nice to see an intelligent 21 year old with his own biz and not illiterate. There may yet be hope for this country. PS: We have another Ian here but he's more idiot savant than outright smart ;).

    Engine missing

I hear the off idle stumble but the idle itself seems OK. Hard to tell though. For it to die like that you must be losing the NE (Number of Engine revolutions) signal which the ECU uses to determine RPM. NE is one of the two main signals used to calculate basic injection duration and spark...

    Engine missing

It actually seems to idle pretty well considering. I don't think what you're hearing is a miss but until you fix the funky CPS you won't know for sure.

    Engine swap from Hell?

    1) Ugh. Missing: fan shroud, TEMS, cruise control, EVAP cannister and EVAP BVSW. 2) The red one: VSV for the fuel pressure up system. It'll look like the one on the EGR VSV next to it. The EGR is plumbed incorrectly. It should run through the VSV shown. The way it is now will give enable EGR...

Making my own/Re-Wiring my Engine harness.

Last I knew Yota sold a connector repair kit that had the pins and receptacles. Damn if I can find the p/n now. Hopefully Jeff Lange (our parts guru here) will chime in. OTC/SPX may have something too. I've heard some connectors are hard to come by (the ECU Pulse-Loks for example) but most...

Making my own/Re-Wiring my Engine harness.

Z: Hey, any monkey can do brakes. You're in the elite and I wish you'd hang out here more often. I need the rest... I also specialize in electrical, driveability, and emissions although I don't do it for a living. I agree his problem has to lie in coil pack encoding. He must be getting IGt for...

Making my own/Re-Wiring my Engine harness.

Zfast: Hey, how bout that....a competent technician. Empera: You're right. I don't know the condition of your harness but it can still be fixed. I've repaired a bunch of them. I'm also not saying you're stupid. You're simply ignorant about the proper way to do this and there is a big difference...
